JUNIOR ROTC - A Character and Leadership Development Program.
The Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) is designed to teach high school students the value of citizenship, leadership, service to the community, personal responsibility, and a sense of accomplishment, while instilling in them self-esteem, teamwork, and self-discipline. Their focus is reflected in its mission statement, “To motivate young people to become better citizens.” It prepares high school students for responsible leadership roles while making them aware of their rights, responsibilities, and privileges as American citizens. The program is a stimulus for promoting graduation from high school, and it provides instruction and rewarding opportunities that will benefit the student, community, and nation. Participation in JROTC does not incur a military service obligation to either the active services or reserves. It is not a recruitment service. There will be no active recruitment in our JROTC program. We will not teach combat skills.

The S-5 has been bugging me for my Newsletter article so here it is….

OUTSTANDING!!!!!!!! What a year for the Raider team. Yes hard work pays off. The long practices, summer workouts, eating right, living right manifested itself in the form of earning Runner-up at the State Championships and first place in Cross Country Rescue at the National Championships. YES OSBORNE THE BEST IN THE UNITED STATE OF AMERICA IN THE CATEGORY OF JROTC RAIDER CROSS COUNTRY RESCUE. The male and female teams finished fifth in the Nation overall. OUTSTANDING!!!!!!!!! Raiders remember there is no off season. My goal next year is to be State Champions. Are you with me? If you are you must stay in shape by doing your workouts. I will be meeting with you all in December.

Raider season is over so it must be DRILL TIME!!!!!!! I think the same 65 cadets that tried out for Raider Team is also trying out for Drill Team. I see the potential to do so some great things Drill Team. I again will be coaching the "Combat Competition Color Guard". This is not your regular Color Guard. Don't know? Ask somebody.

Special thanks and congratulations to everybody who marched in the Marietta Veterans Day Parade. We had the most LET 1's ever march. The LET 1's got the opportunity because I refused to take anyone that was not passing all of their classes. JROTC cadets are expected to be leaders. I expect you all to lead by example. Speaking of LET 1's I must say again that I have never had such an outstanding group of cadets. They are hungry for knowledge and seem ready to accept any challenges.

Seniors! You all know you are a special group to me. This is an outstanding class. I will not even start to list your accomplishments. But I am concerned because I am seeing a few cases of "SENIORITS". Senioritis can be harmful to your health and if left untreated can develop into a bad habit forming disease. You know who you are. Do not throw any the great things you have accomplished. If you have too much going on in your life that will stop you from performing your duties, let me know. As I stated…we have some hungry cadets. . I have many cadets looking to you for leadership and guidance. You are their role models. Act like it! Enough said??????

Leadership Team – Good start. Level 1 is completed. Now we wait on the results to see if we advance to Level 2. The team is comprised of: Sonia Martinez, Raymont Bostic, Sonia Cabrera, Edwardo Trijillo, Erik Rodriguiz, Denise Johnson and our first LET 1 to every be on our team, Liliana Esquivil. CAN WE MAKE IT FOUR YEARS IN A ROW TO WASHINGTON DC??????

What do you call a bear with no socks? Answer: Bear foot. Ha! Ha! I crack myself up sometimes.
