JUNIOR ROTC - A Character and Leadership Development Program.
The Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) is designed to teach high school students the value of citizenship, leadership, service to the community, personal responsibility, and a sense of accomplishment, while instilling in them self-esteem, teamwork, and self-discipline. Their focus is reflected in its mission statement, “To motivate young people to become better citizens.” It prepares high school students for responsible leadership roles while making them aware of their rights, responsibilities, and privileges as American citizens. The program is a stimulus for promoting graduation from high school, and it provides instruction and rewarding opportunities that will benefit the student, community, and nation. Participation in JROTC does not incur a military service obligation to either the active services or reserves. It is not a recruitment service. There will be no active recruitment in our JROTC program. We will not teach combat skills.

OSBORNE JROTC RAIDERS – 2010 STATE RUNNER-UP’S

Your very own OHS JROTC Male Raiders are the Georgia State Runner-Up for 2010. The teams place first at the State Championships in the Physical Fitness male and female, and 3.1 mile cross country run categories. Please congratulate the students if you know them or have them in your class. Suffice it to say that this is a tremendous accomplished for our JROTC program and OHS. We look nothing like the other teams in the State Championships but we used our diversity as motivation to shatter all stereotypes, misconceptions and misinformation about Osborne High School. The team will travel to Molena GA. for the National Championships on Nov 5-7. Thank you all for your support and special thanks to Mr. James and the cheer leaders for a great sendoff last Friday. The kids kept talking about how great they felt to be surprised by the cheers as they boarded the bus.
