JUNIOR ROTC - A Character and Leadership Development Program.
The Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) is designed to teach high school students the value of citizenship, leadership, service to the community, personal responsibility, and a sense of accomplishment, while instilling in them self-esteem, teamwork, and self-discipline. Their focus is reflected in its mission statement, “To motivate young people to become better citizens.” It prepares high school students for responsible leadership roles while making them aware of their rights, responsibilities, and privileges as American citizens. The program is a stimulus for promoting graduation from high school, and it provides instruction and rewarding opportunities that will benefit the student, community, and nation. Participation in JROTC does not incur a military service obligation to either the active services or reserves. It is not a recruitment service. There will be no active recruitment in our JROTC program. We will not teach combat skills.

CW4 FAGAN’S RANDOM THOUGHTS JULY 2010 “We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give” Winston Churchill. "There are no secrets to success. It is the result of preparation, hardwork, and learning from failure-" — Colin Powell

Two years in a row…. Perfect attendance. What is wrong with me? Yes some days I do feel sick and can think of 100 reasons not to come to school but somehow some way I find myself staring at cadets faces telling them to sit down and shut the H….. up!

Awards ceremony:

There is nothing like seeing the proud faces of parents when cadets walk across the stage and receive their awards. What a great look on Rosa Arriaga's face when she was promoted early to Major. She is such a hard working and dedicated cadet. I will miss Jacob Furman. He ALMOST had a tear in my eye with speech at the ceremony. I will miss him but not his one million questions. "chief why is why spelled w-h-y? Chief who was the first 5-star general? Chief who was the last 5-star general? Chief are you an Indian chief? Chief if a melon was called banana would it still be a melon?

JCLC:

Junior ROTC cadet leadership challenge where we separate the men from the boys, the women from girls, the leaders from the followers, the be's from the wanta be's. Osborne really made me proud. 6 leadership awards? That has never been done before. I was impressed with all of our cadets but Martell and Arriaga brought it every day in every way. Every time I saw them they were fired up! One instructor wanted to take Martell back to his school and make her the Battalion Commander. I was so proud to hear the great comments about our cadets. I cannot believe we had 2 instructors telling other instructors not to invite Osborne to their Raider meets because we will take all of their trophies. I was upset at first but they are right, Osborne Raiders do not play, they are here to stay, they won't go away, they do it all day, they jump over hay and never run away, they are fired up from August to May. (I was flowing yo!).

Raiders:

Yeah I am rough and tough and don't take no stuff, but I was so touched when Robertson, Andrede, Hernandez (Gody Nelson and Gody's sister our newest raider) and Torres surprised me by remembering my birthday and singing to me… it was great. They bough me a Gatorade and a bunch of bananas. The perfect gift. Thanks Raiders. I hope Gody's sister sticks with the Raiders. We had a tough workout last week but she was hanging tough like a true Raider. HOOAH!

We have had a so so attendance for Raider workouts but these damn cadets will not work out on their own. Yeah I said damn! RUN DAMN IT! NO EXCUSES!!!!!!!!!!! Where was I? Oh yea. This year I will issue "RAIDER" tabs for the ACU but cadets will have to earn them. How? By demonstrating the true Osborne Raider sprit. You must be HOOAH! HOOAH! HOOAH!!!!!!!!!

Drill Team: I am curious to see the drill camp results.

What else is on my mind…. Oh yeah, I hope Pintard keeps up the good work. She is off to a good start as the S-5. And what can I say about Sonia Martinez? My right hand. What a hard working cadet? She is such a perfectionist. She reminds me of me. I am so tired. I need a vacation. Guess where I am right now writing this blog? ON VACATION! I will try and relax on Thursday as I sail to Mexico. They better have a good gym on the ship. Got to get my work out on.

So the Family Guy is on. Can someone tell me what is going on? The baby and the dog talks and everyone understand them? And they are more intelligent than the adults/humans? What the…..

You know what I saw last week? Of course you don't. I saw a female walking. Her pants were sagging and her pink panties were showing! What the hell? Come on young people! Pants on the ground, pants on the ground, you looking like a damn fool with your pants on the ground. PULL THEM UP! OK. Where was I? Oh yeah, JLAB.

JLAB: Our group was responsible for making 3 videos that cadets from all over the world will be able to see. Remind me to show them to you when school starts. One of them will have you laughing like crazy, especially you raiders.

We have some cadets that want the glamorous staff positions but do not realize how much work is involved. It is hard to juggle school work and JROTC work. Know what you are getting into.
